USGS has placed a research buoy approximately 7 miles west of the northern end of Antelope Island. This buoy has a floating monitor system that radiates out from it. Please keep a very wide berth from this buoy.
Attention Great Salt Lake boaters
The U.S. Geological Survey and Utah Department of Natural Resources/Division of Wildlife Resources have recently placed a research buoy in the open water of Great Salt Lake, approximately 7 miles west of the northern end of Antelope Island (see map below). This research buoy has a radar reflector and a marker light. Because of near-surface anchor lines, please give the research buoy a wide berth (300 foot radius) if you encounter it (see photo and diagram below). Thanks for your cooperation.
